He has actively contributed to the establishment and development of community, civil society and activists’ networks, coalitions and movements at national, regional and international levels.
He has experience working with people from diverse social status, cultural backgrounds, languages, skills and capacities. I place high premium on evidence-based advocacy and activism focusing on eliciting real-life, convincing and community-based information through consultation with, seeking input from, and learning from affected communities and populations in support of decision making and policy formulation on issues relevant to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care.
He has an impressive track record of working at community level on community engagement for raising demand for TB services, providing support for TB patients; facilitating linkage of communities to integrated AIDS, TB and Malaria services from inception of the Global Fund CSS in Nigeria.
He has also served on and led various research programs, surveys and field studies.
His work and contributions to provision of AIDS, TB and Malaria services are well documented in over 20 abstracts that he has authored or co-authored and have been accepted for publication and presentation in major international conferences and meetings on HIV/AIDS, TB and related issues since 2004.
He holds membership of reputable national, regional and global bodies working on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other health-related issues.

A health and human rights advocate and activist, specifically a sex work decriminalization advocate and activist who has for the past 23 years this year 2024 and still counting has been championing initiatives towards the struggle for the decriminalization of sex work in Nigeria and have also made conscientious and sustained effort to ensure that the right to unfettered access to health and unviolated human rights of sex workers struggle is unhampered.
Alban, today is the foremost and frontrunner advocate and activist on issues and matters bothering on sex work and sex workers in Nigeria.
Some of his organization’s remarkable concepts were the branding of 2 (two) vehicles to launch what was tagged ‘Mobile Intervention’ which took services and commodities to sex workers and their communities. He also initiated and launched the first-ever nighttime interventions in Abuja and environs to carry out HIV sensitization and enlightenment at hotspots, brothels, night clubs, popular hangouts, etc.
He has won many awards for his never-say-die stance, including his most cherished, the HEROES award received from The US President’s Emergency Program For AIDS Relief (PEPfAR).
As part of the tools to advance this struggle, he birthed the concept and succeeded in forming, inaugurating and registering Precious Red diamond Welfare Organization (PREDIWOR) the first network for sex workers in Nigeria.
He is a repository of information on issues around sex work and sex workers in Nigeria and have recently launched and personally anchors a podcast titled “Voices Unchained” which tends to delve into the lives and experiences of Key Populations (KPs) which includes Sex Workers, LGBTQ+ individuals and people who inject and/or use drugs in order to hear, discuss and amplify the untold stories. This podcast is for these voices to be heard, provide a space for the clarification of myths and misconceptions; discuss contentious issues, challenge stigmatizing narratives, stereotypes and promote empathy, understand and empower through raw, unfiltered intimate conversations and storytelling.

He was a member of the West African regional CCM for the Abidjan - Lagos Corridor project (ALCO), UNITAID Community Deleagtion.
Currently, a member of the Global Fund Community Delegation, board member of Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, where he sits as the national sub-committee chair on Advocacy, member of the External Consultative Advisory Group (ECAG) of the LIGHT Consortium of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Ibrahim presently is the National Coordinator of Africa Coalition on Tuberculosis-Nigeria (ACT Nigeria), a national network of TB CSOs and actors who are contributing to strengthen TB policies, funding and response generally to ensure no one with TB is left out of care.

Over the past twenty years, Olayide has served in various capacities with several other advocacy-based coalitions in promoting Health financing, HIV/AIDS and TB treatment literacy, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), capacity building for media and a diverse range of civil society groups in research, community engagement, policy monitoring to support universal access to prevention, treatment and care services.
Prior to her work in the non-profit sector, Olayide worked as a Health Correspondent for Punch Newspapers, a leading National Newspaper in Nigeria. Olayide holds a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and an MBA from the Lagos Business School of the Pan Atlantic University (formerly Pan African University).

He possesses expertise in Advocacy; Social Science Research; Community Systems Strengthening; Program Design and Management; Strategy Development; Grant Management; Training and Capacity Building; Strategic Communication; Community and Media Mobilization; Monitoring and Evaluation etc.
He serves as resource person to national and international organizations and works in partnership with different stakeholders including civil society organizations; development partners; parliamentarians; government ministries, departments and agencies etc.
He plays very key roles in many civil society committees and networks at the national, regional and global levels; and contributes to wide range of articles and publications on health and development.

Dr. Akpu’s expertise includes strengthening health systems and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders. He is known for his leadership in mobilizing domestic resources, ensuring sustainable financing for health programs, and coordinating efforts between government agencies, donors, and other partners. His strategic vision ensures that health programs in Nigeria are not only well-funded but also effectively implemented.
In his current role with PEPFAR and UNAIDS, Dr. Akpu oversees complex programs aimed at improving health outcomes for millions of Nigerians affected by HIV/AIDS. His work in coordinating donor efforts and optimizing resource utilization continues to play a critical role in shaping the country’s response to major public health challenges, positioning him as a leader in both national and global health initiatives.

A central part of his role is managing and coordinating the Global Fund/CCM Pilot Key Affected Population engagement process under the New Funding Model in Nigeria. Gabriel works closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the voices of marginalized communities are represented, and their specific needs are integrated into the funding model. His work is crucial in improving HIV service delivery to groups that are often left behind in mainstream health interventions.
In addition to this, Gabriel plays a significant role in facilitating UNJTA and Development Partners' meetings to strengthen coordination and ensure effective support of the Joint Team's efforts in the national HIV response. He is also instrumental in generating strategic information to address issues such as stigma, gender equality, and the unique challenges faced by women, girls, and People Living with HIV and AIDS, driving efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare environment in Nigeria.
